The municipality does not allow car washing in public view. The cop's nice about it but has to act on complaints even if it's from ****** neighbors.
This isn't the cop's fault. This is the idiot legislators fault in NY for making such a dumb law. The cop wasn't harassing anyone, he was just doing his job.
The police aren't hassling the guy. They got a complaint from a neighbor about an apparent ordinance violation. It's obvious the coo would rather not be there but his lieutenant told him to go.
Seems like a stupid ordinance bit from the video it looks like a rich neighborhood where people don't want to see what they consider an unattractive activity. (If it's me, my reaction is who cares if my neighbor's washing his car?)
The cop's doing hid no , the guy who complained is a jerk, and the guy in the video has a chip on his shoulder.

I doubt it's a state law. Probably just a local ordinance passed on behalf of the neighborhood big shots.
If I lived there, I'd REALLY give them something to complain about- like tossing my empties into the street'

I agree. I am just saying it wasn't the cop's fault. He has to uphold the law, no matter how stupid it is. A cop knocked on my door last year telling me he would have to tow my car if I didn't move it because I was parked only two feet away from a crosswalk. City code says I have to park a minimum of three feet away, and someone called the cops reporting my car (even though I wasn't blocking the crosswalk). I didn't blame the cop. I blamed my ******* neighbor and stupid city officials.
The next day I picked up a copy of city ordinances and started reporting my neighbor for every minor technicality I could find...it didn't fix anything but I sure feel better
