What FDR did in 1935- tax the rich and corporations to the hilt. Believe it or not he resisted doing this, but when support from the far left began to criticize and pull support away from him and tout truly socialist reforms; he finally gave in and taxed the wealthy and corporations, also started Social Security---- the rest is history.

FDR was no raging liberal, but a moderate pragmatist who knew the free enterprise system was teetering- he made modest, moderate reforms.

Harry S. Truman wanted national health care in 1946 in his 'Fair Deal' program- I wonder how better this nation would be today of he had started reforms like this visionary idea....amazing man HST.

How badly do you believe the American rich and elites (Hoover, the Fed, the Treasury Dept., the national bankers, etc.) screwed up in causing the Great Depression? Not that badly? 25% unemployment wasn't actually all that bad?

you are right every word of it.
unfortuately, i have found in my 59 years, that i have been compelled to use
one mean dog to deal with another mean dog. i dont like mean dogs, but if
i failed to do this there were unpleasant results. it took a stalin to stop a hitler.
(no disrespect intended to either fine political party)
anyway current admin has got my posterior 3 trillion in debt, so forgive me for going back to old, but still servicable coping mechanisms. ill vote demo again this time.

Most democratic politicians are in favor of capital punishment, and some (harry reid) are against abortion.

truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender

Who believes that people telling the truth belong in jail? And who was a sex offender? Clinton was a pig, but hardly a sex offender.

Congragulations, you just slandered about 50% of America.

I will agree with you on Harry Reid's stance on abortion, but that is the small small minority in the party.

And you saying that Bill Clinton was "hardly a sex offender"? Are you kidding me

The only thing that got the USA out of the Depression was WWII....

FDR was about the worst President this nation has ever had in my opinion but he is worshipped by the left.

Last I checked you didn't have to be against capital punishment, and as much as I support the right to abortion, I'd like to see as few as possible.

2. You have to believe that businesses create
oppression and governments create prosperity.

Oppression is a bit strong a word, but the single purpose of a business is to create profit-not look out for the well being of people. That is the job of a union.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of
law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S.
Nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese, Iranians, Syrians, and
North Korean communists.

Maybe if we had not gotten ourselves so tangled in Iraq we'd be able to address those threats. Now we're avoiding them for no other reason than we're stretched too thin. You're also kidding yourself if you think ALL Democrats are anti-gun.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before
Federal funding.

Not much of an art lover. I mean sure, it's nice to see a sculpture or two in a park but the majority of peope could care less if federal dollars go toward that sort of thing.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are
less affected by cyclical documented changes in the
earth’s climate and more affected by Soccer moms
driving SUV’s.

SUVs? Please. How about worldwide burning of fossil fuels?

6. You have to believe that gender roles are
artificial but being homosexual is natural.

I can't think of any reason why a person would CHOOSE to be gay, but why does it matter?

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread
by a lack of Federal Funding.

Huh?

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can’t
teach fourth graders how to read is somehow qualified
to teach those same kids about sex.

Since when are all 4th grade teachers unqualified? Furthermore, if they are, shouldn't you be homeschooling anyway?

9. You have to believe that hunters don’t care about
nature, but loony activists who have never been
outside of San Francisco do.

As a hunter I can tell you honestly that I do and that the loonies in San Francisco have no clue. They don't speak for me.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more
important than actually doing something to earn it..

Is this a political point or a quote from an after school special?

11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25
million of his own money to make ‘The Passion of the
Christ’ for financial gain only.

Considering it made OVER half a billion dollars worldwide I'd say it was a damn good investment. Not to mention the fact that when you're an A-list Hollyweird actor $25 million is about the equivalent of a new home purchase for the average American. Furthermore, though Gibson's views may differ from the rest of Hollyweird, I never trust people who don't work for a living. Mel Gibson does not work, he pretends.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it
supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the
ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the
Constitution.

The two groups are not mutually exclusive and both have gone a bit far in their respective causes.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but
ATM fees are too high.

Show me a working class family that wants to pay higher taxes.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and
Gloria Steinem are more Important to American history
than Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison, and A.G..Bell.

No grade school curriculum outside of Berkeley even mentions the name of Steinem or Sanger (nor should they-that's college level stuff), yet all address Jefferson, Edison, and Bell. BTW, one President and two inventors? There were many many more important people than that in our history!

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are
racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

Standardized tests are racist? How?

16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal
and is a very nice person.

She's no more abnormal than the rest of us. Nice? I don't think so. As for her chances in the election? She's a born loser. I think my party is smart enough to choose a winner this time.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism
hasn’t worked anywhere it’s been tried is because the
right people haven’t been in charge.

Yeah-that's in the Democrat platform

18. You have to believe conservatives telling the
truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender
belonged in the White House.

Who do we want in jail? BTW, the public never voted on impeachment. The Republican dominated Congress did.

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades
displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should
be constitutionally protected, and Manger scenes at
Christmas should be illegal.

Easy-you might hurt yourself reaching that hard. Beastiality? Do you even know what that word means? Manger scenes should hardly be illegal, nor should menorahs.

20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party
funding by the Chinese Government is somehow in the
best interest to the United States.

Ok, I don't know anything about that so I'm not commenting.

21. You have to believe that this message is a part of
a vast, right Wing Conspiracy.

How about just someone expressing an opinion?

22. You have to believe that it’s okay to give Federal
workers the day off on Christmas Day, but it’s not
okay to say ‘Merry Christmas.’

Define "its not ok?" Seriously, who says its not ok?
The whole point of this is to show that these so-called traits, which you think permeate the entirety of the party, are in fact shared by a relatively small minority within the party such as:

The Hollyweird crowd
Left Coast whackos who've never actually held a job
Inner city shills who preach victimhood

The rest of us just work hard for our money and want a fair shake for the middle class.

Yeah, Nirvana. We're getting uppity. Put us in our place, daddy!

This list is lackluster at best. I do my best to limit my screeds to attacking the policies of individuals or administrations. I try not to paint all Republicans with a broad brush, and this silly list attempts to categorize me based on my voting record, pigeonholing me into beliefs I don't hold.

Silliness.

Absolutely-this makes about as much sense as me asserting that all Republicans' views are in lockstep with Ann Coulter.
