There seems to be an increase in monitoring and real-time tracking that has been showing up the last few years. This is a recent patent filed by AT&T.
The Daily Dot - AT&T patents tech that can block copyright pirates in real-time
quote:
According to a patent awarded to AT&T on Nov. 19, the company intends to monitor the online behavior of its customers, evaluate usage patterns and assign them “scores” which places users into varying “risk classes.” Once a user’s activity is categorized, the company can respond in a number of ways, including blocking the transfer entirely.

I would think most are connected to this agreement. (2012)
American ISPs to launch massive copyright spying scheme on July 12
linked article quote:
Word of the start date has been largely kept secret since ISPs announced their plans last June. The deal was brokered by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and coordinated by the Obama Administration. The same groups have weighed in heavily on controversial Internet policies around the world, with similar facilitation by the Obama’s Administration’s State Department.

This was from Verizon at the end of 2012.
Verizon's Creepy Idea to Spy on TV Viewers | Privacy ...
quote:
Verizon aims to track the behavior of TV watchers as they sing happy songs, play with a pet dog, or enjoy some supposedly private time with a loved one on the couch.
...
But Verizon also describes the capability to detect a person's mood from whether he or she is singing or humming a "happy" song, so that it can select ads geared for happy people. Similar patent filing examples include fighting, wrestling, playing a game or somehow competing with another person. The system could also identify objects such as pets, soft drink cans or a bag of chips in a person's hand, and room decorations or furniture.
...
The patent filing even suggests the tracking system communicating with whatever smartphone or tablet a TV viewer might happen to have in his or her hands. That would allow Verizon to sneak a look at the websites a person is browsing, read email drafts or see what e-book he or she is reading.

Rather than have the "great firewall" that China does, the US is going to do it on an individual basis.

You think that big data center in Utah is going to gather dust ?
They already are breaking ground on the next one.

Secret spying for any reason whatsoever is the icing on the cake.

I made it sort of a personal effort, to make myself as un-trackable as possible. Maybe it's useless effort in the long run, but so far so good.
My IP shows that I'm in Cal. My screen name is a intended error as well. Nope, I'm not. I don't have a trackable mailing address, or email.
My phone is a prepaid burner with no subscriber info, no gps, not a android.
My browser is firefox with all the addons to prevent ads and tracking with a VPN.
These tips alone, have kept me pretty much invisible.

I highly doubt it.
The latest is that the NSA wrote the RSA encryption algorithm that gave them a back door and paid RSA $10 million for them to use it.

So if they did that to get to encrypted data you can bet they have IP tracking all wrapped up.

Firefox is just a pinhole to view the internet in the grand scheme of things.
There's a lot more going on back and forth outside of firefox on your system that you have no clue about.

It is truly a useless effort.

It is pervasive and there is more than one way to skin a cat. There is a clear path that is focusing on the electronic landscape as an increased source of revenue. The increased focus on "cyber" security is part of that. IP is a major part of this model and strategy.

This has been made clear from many venues. It's a "team" sport as GA put it in his bullet points.

You cannot even safely buy a new car today and not think you're getting tracked.

Government is paying business to install this crap.
use it knowing that Big Brother is alive and well and is recording everything you do.
They may not read it but it is gathered and run through data mining software.
And Alexander has said many times (NSA) that they need to be able to go back in history and go through the data so they must have it available.

And it's all just "coincidence" that after Benghazi all these sex scandals and rash of retirements happened with top level military commanders.

There is more than one WB out there that worked on the "private" side related to that industry. One in particular like many other's had his life never be the same once he decided to come forward and speak about what was going on there that people were unaware of. There is a great deal of this that occurs on what people call the "private" side.

Notice in that vid I posted, the proposed, "EZ pass" system.

The Government created the internet, so the government will be complicit in its monitoring and censoring. We peons have no recourse.

Oh I agree, to a point. The ONLY way to stay off the NSA's radar is not to be on it, but that said living in a IR proof cave with only books as a resource would get old.
We may not be able to be totally transparent, but there are always things we can do to create tons of disinformation to make it inconvenient to track you. IF disinfo is done right and planned, then it's also tough to disprove the disinfo, lol.
This why the feds really would like burner phones to just go away, because while they can be tracked unless the battery is removed, it's tougher to know who they really belong to. You can change burners as regular as your underwear if you wish, and to purchase them can still be done out of view of surveillance cams. Without purchase point data, there's no reliable way to know who owns them.
