I think people who would choose to give up their rights to get a bigger and more powerful government are naive and selfish. So here is an example of what happens when we allow the government to ignore our fourth amendment rights. This is not uncommon, and usually it's done in a big way for everyone to see (like the recent Boston bomber incident where they violated many fourth amendment rights.) This example is disgusting, but because it only impacts poor black men, it's allowed to go unchecked. But before you cry racism, be aware that the mayor and police chief are both black.

Is there another side of this story that I'm missing? Is this as disgusting as it appears?

"Saleh was so troubled by what he saw that he decided to install video cameras in his store. Not to protect himself from criminals, because he says he has never been robbed. He installed the cameras — 15 of them — he said, to protect him and his customers from police."

Agreed. As Franklin put it "those who give up essential liberty to purchase temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Here in Texas there are tons of cameras at every red light. Watching what? I don't know. Traffic, yea right. It gets installed, and people don't say anything. Then they install more, then more. They will push more and more. Then it will be too late. You will be watched everywhere. Sounds crazy , but it is possible.

Well since its Texas its the Tea Party-Republican types who are responsible for the cameras. When you find someone in your bedroom it will be a Republican. When you go to vote look for a Republican checking ID. Republicans are looking over your shoulder.

I think people who go to ad nauseum extremes can as easily be dismissed by going in the same opposite direction. By your idea no government would be great. LOL that is the dumbest thing one could say.

Do you have a source for this rumor? Or is it just your typical drivel.
