As the statue of limitations nears for the 2008 Great Recession, during which Americans lost over $10 trillion dollars of wealth, spurned the need for massive bailouts, and pushed this country's finances in the red even further, US Judge Rakoff asks a good question, why has no one been prosecuted yet:

U.S. judge asks: Why haven't the financial executives been prosecuted? - latimes.com

His conclusion: basically that the only thing that is preventing criminal convictions being handed out to Wall St. execs is the lack of political will power and government resources. It's amazing how criminal activity that leads to millions of Americans being unemployed, losing their homes, and life's saving can go virtually unpunished. When crimes on a massive scale like what happened in 2008 go unpunished and lead to furthering the economic chasm between the rich and disappearing middle class, you ruin the fabric that holds a country together.

If you walk into a bank and rob it, the cops will arrest you and throw you in jail. Yet if you knowingly sell people fraudulent investment instruments that lose billions of dollars you get to keep the millions of dollars you make and walk away free. This is what happens when you transform from a democracy to a corporate state that idolizes unrestrained capitalism. Capitalism loves to subvert democracy to achieve maximum profit.

Seems to me you need to be asking this of your US Attorney General. You know, the one who is a part of the most transparent administration in history.

In before the usual clowns come in protecting their investments and laying the blame on those without any political or monetary power.

The creme of the crop in Corporations and Banks, plus politicians get the majority of their wealth from Wall Street Investments.

Who Rules America: An Investment Manager's View on the Top 1%

An Investment Manager's View on the Top 1%

Quote:
The Upper Half of the Top 1%

Membership in this elite group is likely to come from being involved in some aspect of the financial services or banking industry, real estate development involved with those industries, or government contracting. Some hard working and clever physicians and attorneys can acquire as much as $15M-$20M before retirement but they are rare. Those in the top 0.5% have incomes over $500k if working and a net worth over $1.8M if retired.

The higher we go up into the top 0.5% the more likely it is that their wealth is in some way tied to the investment industry and borrowed money than from personally selling goods or services or labor as do most in the bottom 99.5%. They are much more likely to have built their net worth from stock options and capital gains in stocks and real estate and private business sales, not from income which is taxed at a much higher rate. These opportunities are largely unavailable to the bottom 99.5%.
When the Government is for sale and Politicians are in on the gig, propping up Wall Street makes sense.
Corporations and Banks are not in it for the good of America but to maximize profit for themselves and their shareholders.

The Government is supposed to work for the best interests of all citizens and not for the benefit of CEO Bonuses and Shareholder Value.

I would like someone to please tell me why it is a good idea to allow Wall Street Bankers and Corporate Heads to have any influence in our government, when their interests is not for America, nor do they have any responsibility to it, but to themselves and their share holders?

Why can't they get a Bull Horn and hit the pavement if they wish to have politicians "hear" them like every other citizen in this country?

Because our economic mobility is only an illusion. Most that are born poor stay poor. Most that are born rich stay rich.

The real issue is:

Wait for it!

Lobbyists.

Speaking around where I live, no-one likes Obama, and those that voted for him are sorely disappointed with his "Hope and Change", and reining in Corruption in DC and Wall Street.

The media may say otherwise......

He has gone 180 degrees the opposite direction.

Some may say he cowered to pressure from conflicting interests, but I believe otherwise.
I believe Obama was a Propaganda Response based on their own findings in this country to the overwhelming citizens cries for change.
The track record of the US Government and its History as well as their preparedness for all eventualities to their core missions and desires underlies this.
Not to mention, all his actions, regardless of what "he says" have all been for enriching the crony connected at the nations expense.
They have at their fingertips, the general consensus of the population at anytime, and even more so with technology now.

There are a lot of "important" wealthy people that love power that want to keep the gravy train going for them at this nations expense.
There are billions of dollars at stake in maintaining the status quo for various entities and they are not going to give that up without a fight.

Convincing the population that the poor and middle class is after the wealth of the rich (250K or less) is a great tactic when the poor and middle class have 0 political or monetary power and the ones pulling the strings are not those earning 250k or less.

It is the same game they play with the healthcare fiasco where it is all for the "poor uninsured", or all the wars we have been in are for fighting for our "Freedoms" when they themselves are taking them away as we speak.

I'm also not a fan of any of the last three presidents and current one. Finally, someone who see's the light. The media has set out turn every American against each other. Also, look how these wars lead to our freedoms disappearing.

It is all a game of "dog eat dog and survival of the fittest" to them in politics and using the government for their ends is not off limits.

A complete free market, maybe acceptable with policing limites, but there is no Free Market when they use the Government that is supposed to be a Representative Republic, for the People and By the People.

It is hard for them to turn our constitution into a socialist or communist smear word though as they have done with everything else when the people try at every turn to take back the power. That is how they play the game. "People power governing nation states is socialism or communism, but power by an intellectual and banker elite is the only way to go."

Globalist Fascists is the term for these scum bags

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years......It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years.

But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supernational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries.”

“For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with Castro to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions.

Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure--one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

Yes, hope and change was a gimmick to lure in the mindless sheep.

Obama supporters will go hysterical over this well sourced list of 504 examples of his lying, lawbreaking, corruption, cronyism, etc. | Dan from Squirrel Hill's Blog
