While the Ukraine/Crimea and Iraq invasions are obviously and certainly different, they might raise a valid point here: If the U.S. only follows international law when it is convenient for it or whatever, then why exactly can't Russia feel the same way about when it follows international law?
I actually agree. They are not the same. Russia invaded a sovereign nation and practically stole a piece. The whole issue with Iraq is completely different regardless of wether you were in favor of the war and occupation or not.
They are similar. But if the US had annexed sections of Iraq then they would be exactly the same. I think the war in Iraq was horrible and was the biggest quagmire since Vietnam.

Crimea asked Russia to come help them.
Crimea voted to go with Russia.
At the other end you have a US backed coup that took over Ukraine.
And all this only AFTER Ukraine voted to go with Russia over the IMF.
Yes, Iraq was different. We didn't want the country.
We just wanted to off Saddam and get Iraq back on the petrodollar for trading oil.
