I have often wondered, how many of those who support abortion think capital punishment is wrong? I am sure there are many. I have seen a few on here think that. If you do feel abortion is the right of the woman carrying the baby, even though it is taking a life (especially after 20 weeks) how can you think allowing a murdering to stay alive is right?

While this is always brought up in abortion or death penalty debates, I have a hard time seeing how the two are related and I see nothing inconsistent about being pro-choice and anti-death penalty or pro-life and pro-death penalty.

How do you feel about Abortion versus capital punishment?

The same way I feel about apples versus rowboats, two distinctly different, unrelated things.

I'm not a supporter of either, but I wouldn't support someone who would ban either.

Instead of talking about feelings, let's talk about reality.

Capital punishment is taking the life of a human being.

Abortion is not.

Now feel free to go on with your discussion.

against both abortion (partial birth) and capital punishment. Abortion IS taking the life of a human being if done very late in the pregnancy, say after 7 or 8 months. 2 or 3 months? I have nothing against it.

Decriminalize and end the drug war and we'd have a lot more room in prisons and society would be no worse off.

They are, as others have noted, unrelated.

I am thoroughly pro-Choice and am ambivalently pro-Capital Punishment.

Note, as mentioned in a different thread awhile back, being pro-Choice says very little about whether one is pro-Abortion or not - it is being for the right of all to make their own choice.

Both are affirmed by the US Constitution.

I'm indifferent to abortion. I'm pro capital punishment - if it's less expensive than letting the convicted person end of life in prison.

pretty simple for me. Protect the innocent. abortion generally kills the innocent. Capital Punishment actually protects the innocent.
