Two hungry fan bases and the wealth of the New York metropolitan area had some guessing that Super Bowl XLVIII would turn out to be the most expensive ticket in Super Bowl history.
However, judging from the reaction of the resale ticket market in the past 24 hours, it could turn out to be one of the least expensive.

On Friday, nine days before the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks meet at MetLife Stadium, the cheapest ticket to buy for the Super Bowl was $1,779 on NFL Ticket Exchange, the league's official resale site. That's $409 cheaper than it was on the site with this many days left last year and $809 cheaper than the year before.

Weather or the economy? Or maybe both?

Weather!!!

The SB is not something for the average fan.....the factory worker.....the school teacher.......it's where celebs and other elite go to be seen,,,,,,thus these type of spectators aint doing this:

Nope.......the Bowl should have been in the warmer places or a city with a dome.

bingo....Not to mention that it's not really in NY! It's in Jersey!! Which means congested commuting....and add bad wether into that??? Forget about it...

This will be the worst debacle the NFL has ever seen.

What were they thinking?

I may actually get a ticket...I live in NY...so it's either now or never given the cost to see it somewhere else in the future.

I personally will wait until it hovers around 500-1200 for a seat.

Thing is looking on a map you would think getting to that part of NJ from NYC or wherever is easy, but often it is not because of traffic. Traffic that will be made worse by the SB.

Leaving aside the high cost of car rental (if you don't drive one to NYC/NJ) there are the associated equally high costs of tolls, parking, etc... and that is before meals, hotels, bars, drinks, etc... before during and after the game.

There is nothing to do really around the stadium so you are either going back into the City or find something that may interest you in NJ.

If the Giants had made it into the SB then things may have been different. There is plenty of NY/NJ/Conn local money that would have put up with things to see a game locally. As they are already used to this high cost area things wouldn't be such a sticker shock.

Oh yes, there will be no tail gate partying allow and that includes grilling on GS property before, during or after the game.

Residents of both the teams home states probably want to stay home and watch it on TV while smoking their legal pot.

Me either... since the stadium only seats some 83,000 people.

Well, they told SD they won't get another SB until they have a new stadium. The owners of the Chargers are too cheap to build one and want the suckers,,,,er taxpayers to do it for them. Maybe Detroit would be a good spot for a SB. We are not building a new stadium here for Billionaires.

Lol.....I was joking about how the HHS always overestimates their enrollment numbers on Obamacare, so it would be only fair that they would say that 473,000 tickets were sold to a stadium that seats 83,000.

I heard of a plane crash in which a small 2-seat Cessna crashed hard into a cemetary, making a large crater. Federal authorities have been sifting the area for victims. So far, 483 bodies have been found at the crash site.....
