Initially, Beretta focused on states that expressed strong support for Second Amendment rights, saidJeff Reh, a board member of Beretta USA. It narrowed down that list by looking at factors for investment, including tax rates, cost of living, quality of local educational institutions, availability of workers and job recruitment support from the state, including training programs.
Beretta expects to have up to 300 employees working at the plant by the third or fourth year of operations and is exploring projects that could add more jobs in Gallatin, Reh said.
Beretta is NOT leaving Maryland. Mfg is moving, but corp hq is staying put. Just as Sturm Ruger has its headquarters on the Gold Coast of Ct, but makes its product in a low cost part of Arizona.
Eventually headquarters moves closer to production. The big wigs don't like flying all the time if they are spending their time at the same place. Like Toyota is doing moving their HQ from California to Texas.
Before you criticize someone's reading comprehension you should learn to read your original post, the 2013 Fire Arms Safety Act Passed. The senate version that "would have prohibited" did not or maybe Maryland has a new legislative process that bypasses the governor.
So you resurrect your thread that is months old without even posting the actual bill that passed, are there not enough new gun issues or are you out of ideas.
The MD 2013 FSA was reasonable.
Reasonable if you prefer something close to alcohol prohibition.
Sucks to be wrong, the mods combined threads, I stated a brand new thread with the new news, no clue why they merged them.
Now, getting back to your argument, it very clearly states that it passed and WOULD HAVE PROHIBITED Beretta from conducting business they have been conducting for the last 30+ years...that's why they are leaving.
If the MD 2013 FSA was reasonable, why did Beretta leave?
You are the only one who is complaining about not seeing the actual bill, I also don't see MD stating that Beretta was wrong in what they stated....
The version that passed THE SENATE, a bill does not become a law until the governor signs it. Some people on here understand that this was a threat for the future but it did not pass. If it did pass then it should be very east to post a link but I don't expect one anytime soon.
20 pages and you still have not posted a link to the actual FSA of 2013 that you claimed made Beretta move out and you don't think that is important??
Beretta stated it departed because of the gun climate in MD, more importantly an opportunity to lower overhead and provide an excuse for their departure.

“During the legislative session in Maryland that resulted in passage of the
Firearm Safety Act of 2013, the version of the statute that passed the Maryland
Senate would have prohibited Beretta U.S.A. from being able to manufacture,
store or even import into the State products that we sell to customers
throughout the United States and around the world.
Eventually headquarters moves closer to production. The big wigs don't like flying all the time if they are spending their time at the same place. Like Toyota is doing moving their HQ from California to Texas.
Sturm Ruger has hq in Ct for decades now, and haven't made a gun in Ct for decades.
Bobby, you were/are wrong. Save some dignity and give it up already.
No, Tracey, as always you are. The Beretta Board member made it clear. 300 is possible, but it isn't happening, if at all, for the next 4-5 years.
