I tell my kids all the time.

"Be grateful that you live in the 21st century in the United States of America. Every day you get out of bed, it's like winning the lottery all over again."

Nice to have it validated though!

That was just the medical stuff and some statistics. Seriously its awesome.

And we have some truly awesome things coming, 3D printing is just the tip of the iceberg.

Im not terrified of dying because of death, im terrified because of all the cool things I might miss.

Expect some issues on the way-growing inequality will become worse before it will become irrelevant. Worries about social security-ditto. Lots of the things I debate here....I debate because the people are wrong, but I know long term it wont matter.

People are really hardwired to pay attention to bad things.

Oh look a tiger! Will it eat me? has always been more important then

"ohhh butterfly, its so pretty-thats awes" *gets eaten by tiger*

the fact that our GDP is ever increasing isnt that important-thats not a threat. Threats are stranger, people who are different.

I love to talk about some of the cool things coming in the future, this is not the place I do that usually.

This really is a great topic. With advances in medicine, technology, social consciousness, etc, humanity is always evolving. Just the fact we can communicate with (and influence) people in the furthest reaches of the globe through an internet connection makes us the most fortunate people to be alive in history.

So often it is so easy for many of us to focus on the negative. Failing to see all the good and positive around us. This was one of those good reads. I think we all need to count our blessings for what we do have and the new technology we each get to use. People living longer, is a wonderful thing. Advances in medicine is a great accomplishment, new technology all around us,. It is a great thing when people continue to evolve and we make so many new advancements.

For all the negative in this world, there is so much more Good.

Many things are better today, but some changes have been for the worst.
We used to play outside without fear, in fact kids loved to be outside. Not so much today.
We never locked our doors at night, we never felt the need to. Not true today.
American manufacturing dominated the world. Not anymore.
Politicians found compromise. Not anymore.
Welfare was not the norm and people were embarrassed to be on welfare. Today they demand more.
The age of computers has made our lives easier. I can shop on line rather than drive around going store to store.
Cars are more reliable, but so complex many can't even find the spark plugs.
Houses are built to a much higher standard.
Travel has never been easier.
In fact everything is easier, but easier doesn't always mean better.
