If this had occurred in a white neighborhood, a mall, or a school, there would be multiple threads about "banning guns," et al. However, because 2 black kids were killed in Oakland, CA no one really cares. Same holds true for Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles. So long as no one is really effected and its not front page news, no one really cares.

Sad state of affairs the people of this country are in.
it is an outrage when children lose their lives in senseless violence. but we cant blame the guns, we have to blame the people that pulled the trigger. would you be happier if these children were killed with knives instead?

I would be, less potential for others to get hurt.

I *DO* in fact kinda blame the people that kill other people I think most people should.

No. You mistook my point. I don't care what killed these people. I'm NOT a gun control advocate; far from it. However, when pretty white kids are killed, its front line news and everyone is screaming and yelling. When it occurs in a mall, or school, its front line news, with everyone yelling.

Like it or not, the US is a racist country and really could care less black people are being killed in Oakland, Detroit, Chicago, LA, and other areas. THAT is my point. How many people have been killed in these cities thus far? Headline news? Nope. But a nut shoots and kills two persons at a mall and its headline news for WEEKS.

Even worse, is the the "black" people on this board, who whine about not being referred to as "African American." Yet, do NOTHING to stop such violence against our own people.

It has rough areas for sure but most of it is a fairly normal, working-to-middle class city that also has a ton of great food, cool bars, and a thriving arts and music scene. Most people there are really cool and approachable.
The ONLY way to get Oakland, Chicago, Detroit and other areas under control is through martial law and bringing in the National Guard. People don't want to admit it, however its the truth. The violence is not going to slow down and/or stop, without it.

People can keep wishing and dreaming. It will not occur.

You obviously are completely unaware of how many stories like this occur every day. White kids, black kids, etc. This is not new, or unusual. The color of the kids really isnt a factor.

With the exception of a handful of areas, Chicago is under control and their homicide rate is at it's lowest levels in 50 years.

Yes, it is a factor. Yet, you are also correct. No one complains, unless it occurs at a school or a mall. Then its a big deal.

several kids from a local family were killed over here recently. I believe they were white. The only real conversation about it was "gang violence" and it wasnt all that important.

Sorry but no, gang members killing each other? We dont give a hoot what color they are. You're trying to make this about race, and it isnt.
