Is that the agreement you have with your company? I thought minimum wage was an arbitrary number? Therefore that would mean your job is still worth $15/hr.

Right now, a large percentage of low-wage workers are eligible for various kind of public assistance because their wages are so low. Why should the taxpayers subsidize businesses so they can keep wages low and reap bigger profits? If your businesses model requires that you pay your employees so little that they qualify for welfare, your businesses model needs to change. Will it be disruptive? You bet! But something needs to change.

My experience in the restaurant industry was when I was sixteen, it was the first and last minimum wage job I had for all of six weeks.

It's not, that's the point.

It's a law on the books and what has happened is that wages are now compared against min wage.

"If you got rid of it…." talk is just that, talk and opinions.

No, if I'm making $15 and the minimum is $7.50 then my labor is worth double the minimum. If the minimum is $15 I want $30.

As for the agreement with my company I need to talk to the boss, myself.
