They got upset when it was learned that the government was listening in on their conversations. They got upset when they thought McCain/Feingold might apply to them.

In the end this is a no win for the administration. They can't even get over the 2nd amendment let alone the 1st. Granted they seem to want to badly.

What evidence is there that this FCC study is about an attempt by the Government to restrict content?

Of course the Obumbots would rather argue over sentence structure.

FCC Reworking Controversial Study | Adweek

The Federal Communications Commission is quietly changing course on a controversial study after parts of the methodology were roundly criticized by GOP lawmakers and commissioner Ajit Pai for encroaching into editorial decisions and content at TV stations

It makes no difference. They have no place in the newsroom for any reason. To restrict, to monitor, to make sure the donuts are fresh they have no business being there.

Because FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai appointed by none other than Obummer stated such.

Isn't that enough?

They got upset about the phone taps on reporters because they were done in secret. If the partisan hacks think they can be included in the loop with the Obama admin to punish their enemies they will be silent.

Agreed......but evil doesn't slink.

It slithers, like the snake in the Blight House.

No I believe Ajit Pai claimed it could be used to intimidate. That is pure speculation on his part. Obviously the FCC could attempt to intimidate with or without this study.

Here is what Ajit Pai stated.

Participation in the Critical Information Needs study is voluntary—in theory. Unlike the opinion surveys that Americans see on a daily basis and either answer or not, as they wish, the FCC's queries may be hard for the broadcasters to ignore. They would be out of business without an FCC license, which must be renewed every eight years.

What would stop the FCC without the study just denying, say Fox News a license?

Quote:
The government has no place pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories," wrote Pai in a Wall Street Journal op ed earlier this week. As Pai described it, the FCC would be sending in researchers to "grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run."
