You think I'm the blind one?
They can do all of that already, without taking on step onto the property of CNN, much less hiring an unqualified group to ask detailed questions about things that are none of the FCCs concern.

They will pick 6 Media areas - the two examples in the Proposal (78 pgs long) were Tucson and New York City. They would then look at all "news" outlets in the Media area - local, regional, State, Government, TV, Radio, personal blogs, Facebook and PRINT.

The FCC doesn't even have jurisdiction over all those media - you keep saying it "only a month". That's not true - the proposal gives a timeline of at least 6 months just to gather the data. This was the Brainchild of Acting FCC Chairman Mignon Clybern, the daughter of Representative James Clybern who is probably the most vocal Democrat in Congress to demand a return of the "Fairness Doctrine".

It's a Million dollar contract for the "study" that was given to a group that has ZERO experience in Media, News or Journalism ...... their 'experience' is in Social Justice.

The new Chairman of the FCC is now saying they will "adjust" some of the questions (like what is your political ideology) - He still plans on going forward with this "study" and says the adjustments will mean the "study" will cost more that the Million Dollars the US Taxpayers have already donated to the Social Justice research organization.

It has to be stopped NOW ..... phone, email & write your CongressCritters and Local newspapers.

For those that don't remember OR where not even around during the Watergate days - Richard Nixon used the FCC to try and shut down venues owned by the Washington Post. It was the articles in the Washington Post that were exposing him.

From the Proposal.

Presuming that the contract period for this project will be one year, an example of a
reasonable constructed week, therefore, would include the following dates: Sunday, July 7 ;
Monday, August 7 ; Tuesday, September 17 ; Wednesday, October 30 ; Thursday, November
14; Friday, December 20 ; and Saturday, February 1 . Once the content of this constructed week
is acquired, we will randomly sample content from each day.

....
The final component of this qualitative piece involves the execution of in-depth interviews with
corporate management, local management, and support staff. We suggest a maximum of 56
media provider sites (radio and television stations) be surveyed. Within that maximum,
interviews will be conducted within each market, stratified by market size. We propose that
interviews be conducted at six sites in each of the selected small markets, ten sites in the selected
medium markets, and 12 sites in large markets. Five interviews will be conducted at each media
site. The selection of the type of staff to interview within each market shall be largely dependent
on the number of properties within each market. The maximum number of interviews will be
capped at 280.
Small Market: 6 sites X 5 interviews = 30 X 2 = 60
Medium Market: 10 sites X 5 interviews = 50 X 2 = 100
Large Market: 12 sites X 5 interviews = 60 X 2 = 120
Total: 280

So over a period of a week (made of 7 different days) they will examine broadcasts, for which they don't need to be onsite.

The onsite "monitoring" will consist of 280 interviews divided between 28 organizations.

Even stretching it out with 1 interview per day the government researchers (or monitors if you prefer) would be present at a site for a week.

So I was wrong. The researchers won't be in the newsroom for a month. They will be present for around a week, could even be as short as a day.

The new study was prepared for the FCC after a preliminary study was performed by Annenberg School of Journalism.
