This is the problem with so called "debates" about 9/11.
Most OPs on the subject focus on some limited aspect and demonstrate the bias of the poster. [MOD CUT]
Quote:
Most people find that a lot easier to believe than a conspiracy involving hundreds of willing participants and hundreds of pounds of burning thermite that magically melted away the superstructure of the building without giving off any heat or smoke.
It would seem the theory that spawned this pointless debate has been debunked.
This poster talked about Occam's Razor as though he was being logical and now talks about what is easier for people to believe. That is how most people treat Occam's Razor but they also throw out facts they regard as inconvenient to their beliefs. The true application of Occam's Razor must account for all of the facts and what people find easy to believe is irrelevant.
But I think that 9/11 has become a different order of problem. David Chandler teaches high school physics and is apparently on the side of so called "Truthers". But when has he ever tried to explain the physics of skyscrapers by discussing how steel and concrete must be distributed down the buildings so they can hold themselves up against gravity?
Talking about Occam's Razor without settling that is pretty absurd for people in the nation that put men on the Moon. But all of the people talking about False Flags and Operation Northwoods are just as ridiculous.
However our so called "scientists" and "engineers" have put themselves in a peculiar position by not resolving this by now. Maybe that is more important than any real conspiracies. Because if the physics dictates that there had to some conspiracy beyond the 19 Arabs then scientists should have figured it out in 2002. So if they did and remained silent that is another problem. Our scientific educational system has to deal with real physics no matter what the majority of dummies find "easier to believe".

Reason: discussing moderation
Actually, the thread closed because there wasn't anything constructive coming out of it. Seriously... Who really wants to waste their time debating with crazy?
Thanks for using my final post in the last 9/11 thread to start this one. It's pretty much all that needs to be said on the subject.
One of the hallmarks of a good fiction writer, is that he explores all the logical branches of his plot and closes them off in a way that doesn't leave one questioning the device that closes them off.
Which means that conspiracy theorists are very bad fiction writers
It would be plausible to have a bunch of people use thermite and planes to fake something.
It would not be plausible to get all those people (and all the ones who contributed to creating the conspiracy) to keep silent. It would involve the coordination of a large array of people, to get someone in authority to pull this off. And, then to have not a single one of them ever leak it, that would be a miracle.
There, of course, are other theories as to WHY someone would want to do it, but in the end, the theories raise far more questions than they answer. Like, why would the president have the wife of a long term friend on a plane die? To what end?
Those who pen these things forget those sub-plots and that's what makes them such bad fiction writers. When asked, they imply that these people have hearts of stone and are unbelievably cold and calculating with clear and unfailing strategy and plots to achieve some end. Yet, as we saw, Bush was not. He was a decent and very caring person, who was personally extremely affected by the pain of those he didn't even know.
Sadly, the conspiracy types are terrible fiction writers - which is probably why they aren't widely published authors and rich.

This goes directly to the physics versus conspiracy issue. Could the portion of the north tower above the impact zone fall and destroy everything below the impact zone in less than 26 seconds or not?
That is a physics question not a conspiracy question. If the physics says it could not happen just from the fall then how much people doubt the possibility of a conspiracy being kept quiet is irrelevant. It just means that there are groups within this culture that do not conform to the norm which do not advertise their existence.
So what is wrong with having accurate distribution of mass data regardless of anyone's beliefs about conspiracies?

Apparently it can, as we have all seen on the footage that was recorded that day. The destruction of the towers and the length of time they took to collapse did not occur outside the laws of physics.
Of course, you could just be insinuating the collapse of the WTC was some kind of hologram. It wouldn't surprise me in the least given some of the other crazy allegations made during this ridiculous discussion.
