Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has been nominated for Nobel Peace Prize, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute Geir Lundestad has reported Wednesday....The former KGB agent is credited with averting a US attack against Syria by suggesting putting Bashar al-Assad's regime's chemical weapons arsenal under international control.

It didn't have any meaning after Obama got it.

• Persons who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize

This is not the first time Putin has been nominated.

While you might have been disappointed when the prize was awarded to Obama, there was and remains substantially more global criticism of other prior winners, including but not limited to:

Yasser Arafat, and

Israeli President Shimon Peres, and

Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and

Former South African president F.W. de Klerk, who presided over the end of the apartheid regime, and
