The media gate keepers can no longer keep the gates closed.

The internet has allowed information about our government and the worlds governments to get loose.
People are getting information like never before in the age of mankind.

The younger generations are connected. they see the problems of the world at a much younger age now.
The older generations are 50/50. Some have access to the internet, while others refuse to update their old ways.

Revolt around the world has been fueled by the truth being released and the media no longer able to keep the gates secure.

The internet's usefulness is unlimited. Yet, many people barely tap into it.

As long as Uncle Sam keeps the money flowing via it's social programs we won't see any "unrest" here.

quite so.

the internet will change things quite fundamentally.

-more people world wide haven't even 'integrated' the internet into their lives than have. in the West, everyone is online. it's common. but the West doesn't realize how uncommon it actually is elsewhere. you have huge amounts of people who haven't even yet plugged in. once they do...or once their kids do, it'll be a whole different ball game. you think we have problems now? you better strap yourselves in.
-language barriers are going to be erased by technology. pretty soon i'll be able to communicate in chinese to a native chinese person while using english, and he'll get to talk to me, using chinese, while i receive the message in english. language barriers are on their way out in a big way.
-everyone is interconnected.
-keeping things behind closed doors is harder than ever and yet internet censorship does just that.
-information doesn't "travel" anymore. it just exists.
-like people find their own online quite naturally. that's why i laugh so hard at these threads arguing over one another. you do realize that the people you're arguing about aren't even here to hear your complaints? sorry to say, but if you're a regular on this site, you're more than likely a lot like all the other regulars.
-externally imposed identity markers mean garbage now. you can hide who you are a lot better now. anonymity and the internet go hand in hand.
-instead of being fed info by whoever, you can seek your own info. both good and bad. the crazy can validate their crazy...at the same time, you have zero excuses for being uninformed on any matter these days.
-the opportunity to be "watched" is greater than ever. google's most powerful asset, for example, is knowledge on what people are searching the internet for on a very intimate level. that's info you can use in so many different ways...it's almost dizzying.
-zero rules online, apparently.
-the obscene and extreme of human behavior is there for anyone to see.
-we're a lot ruder online than in real life. we're less likely to care what people think..we'll say what comes to mind without pausing to think who it might hurt. there are no repercussion...except being banned..which is like, a time out, really. it's different because while people have always policed themselves...now no one can.

[MOD CUT/off topic]

interesting to how this will all pan out...but if you think we're going back you're dead wrong. this is the future.

Will the media be able to elect who they wish this time around?

Yes. And as a result pictures of cute puppies are replacing actual news.

Internet brings good & bad

Good: More information to more people
Bad: More misinformation. People are now able to go home and hide within an extreme community. Neighbors/co workers have no idea what the individual is participating in.
