Bigger question: why shouldn't USA just annex Mexico? I see nothing but benefits by just deposing the Mexican govt. and adding 20-30 new states to the union.
This was considered and wisely rejected in 1848. Mexico has 31 states, and rather than benefits, annexation would create a new nightmare for the USA.

You might have noticed that Stalin did not, in fact, take France. You seem to think the Russian Federation has the wherewithal to support an invasion of South America - but this is not RISK. It's a silly notion.

Word was IF Mexico was mostly "white", NOT "Indian", the US would've taken all of it in 1848. But can someone say a bunch of possible new slave states looking at the map?
Too; I red something that Mexico was def worried the US would've put the "brown skin" Mexicans INTO slavery in what is now Texas and so on.
If this were to happen would we allow it? Would it be legal & democratic? Since so many commenting are for it with Crimea annexing into Russian.
Why the hell would people fight to come here and then vote to be back in their original country?
Maybe once Putin wins the current standoff and sends the USA back into an economic crisis (as you previously said you hoped he would), it wouldn't be a bad idea.
He made himself weak, when he bowed down to other foreign leaders and apologize for his country. Don't blame Fox or Bush.
