The world runs on resources. As those resources dry up, the fight for them will intensify.

There is also the possibility of harnessing new resources such as hydrogen, thorium, bio-fuels, hydro-electricity, wind and wave, thermal energy and numerous other fuel sources.

I was talking to some folks who have just returned from Ukraine and they said something interesting.
They said that the Ukraine has a large faction that want to take up arms and fight the Russians. Right now, Ukraine army is composed of mostly 19 year olds with nothing but Kalashnikovs. The local populous refers to them with sardonic humor as "Meat for the Butcher". Ukraine has nothing to fight Russia with and arming them would lead to a slaughter if they went up against the Russian army.

"Meat for the Butcher".......how appropriate.

Poland is quite safe, it's a NATO member and Putin is well aware that Article 5 would be invoked if it were attacked. There are also US Forces in Poland and NATO bases.

That 21st Century Chamberlain will find some way to weasel out of responding if Poland is attacked.

It should be remembered that Chamberlain was later replaced by Churchill, and I think the same fate would befall the current US Administration if such circumstances were to arise again.

Explain how you can manufacture cell-phones, laptops, medical equipment and Plasma TVs with only those resources.

Only a fool is so blind as to think oil and natural gas are so important....
