Crimea "voted" for independence like North Korea "voted" in Kim Jong Un. No serious person believes Crimea had a free and fair election. The vote was mere propaganda. It was so obviously flawed that the anti-Russian Crimean Tatars boycotted it.

I am pretty sure they didn't have an referendum during which they stuffed ballot boxes on whether to declare independence from Britain.

If anything, we should be closing that base and handing it back to the Cubans.
Cuba freely agreed to the Platt Amendment. Arguably should we hand it back to Spain, who didn't freely hand over Cuba to us?

Perhaps Germany should roll tanks into Russia's Kaliningrad on the Baltic? Didn't Germans have that for about 500 years before their loss in WWII?

2. Ukraine is failing in most economical models
3. Russia has "offered" to help crimea...
I'll consider the boat after boat of Cuban refugees who risk their lives to cross the ocean in an old for pickup with barrels keeping it afloat just to get into the US.

I mean if that's not a referendum I don't know what is.

They are an oppressed people and they have a dangerous government. More than enough justification for the US to take over. I mean as long as Russia has opened this can of worms we better show our resolve.

LMAO...the Platt Amendment...as if the Cubans had a real choice.

They signed that treaty at the end of the barrel of a gun.

It also says that we have a right to meddle in their domestic affairs. Should we be doing that too?

You're an imperialist. At least have the guts to admit it.

So you're going back over 100 years? How long do we have to feel guilty for taking advantage of the weak, stupid and lazy?

Human beings were meant to compete with each other and the strongest and smartest should prevail.

The way God meant it to be.

People like you won't be happy until the US is a country of 1 billion, mostly ignorant and poor people.

The American dream dies with attitudes like yours.

I think it comes down to whether the detainees are being treated fairly and the reasons why the US should and will be beneficial for them to close the Guantanamo Bay.

This article is an interesting read

"“Guantanamo does not serve America’s interests. As long as it remains open, Guantanamo will undermine America’s security and status as a nation where human rights and the rule of law matter.”

The signatories included a former commandant of the US Marine Corps, general Charles Krulak, ..."

We could start throwing out rhetoric like the unstable Cuban Government is putting our Marine Corp base in danger. Hell, we could even send out a referendum over the internet to see if the average Cuban wants Cuba to become the 51st state.

Makes just as much sense as Russia taking the Crimea. If we had any balls, this is exactly what we would do.
I think you missed a promising future in national politics.

Such idiocy fits perfectly with every action undertaken by the gang in Washington. They'd welcome you with open arms.

Chill out. My post was partially tongue in cheek. Do you think I am serious that Germany should roll tanks into Russia's Baltic Port?

Are you saying that Cuba wasn't thrilled to have Spain removed and they weren't willing to give up less than 1% of 1% of their island in return for their freedom?
