Hotelrekening Obama: 1,1 miljoen euro | Buitenland | Telegraaf.nl

OMG this is embarrassing and outrages!!!

This President is all about fun and has no clue about managing a budget!

It is in all newspapers in Europe which shows they don't think it is normal either!!!

How much of that cost is security and logistics, and not luxuries?

Warren Buffets security expense is about $500K a year.. And no, I'm not suggesting the President have similar limited security, but I bet Buffets security team is pretty good and probably offers a decent comparison for starters.

Warren Buffet is not the POTUS, sorry. He can fly into Amsterdam today and there will be no flurry of press cameras waiting for him. So, not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Besides, since this looks like an official visit to the Netherlands (OP is making out to be a vacation), the host country usually pays for official visits, not us

Anywhere Buffet goes, there is a fluster of cameras waiting for him. The main difference is that people arent out to assinate him..

I'm sure people have thought about kidnapping his children though and holding them for ransom.

The President has a security detail regardless of where he is, so the cost wouldnt be any different if he was in Amsterdam, or Florida

The article also states that the room was basically booked for a few weeks, not just the one day. A president isn't your average guest, there is a lot of security details that are done prior to their visit.

Yes, I agree and the ticket for these trips will only continue to rise.

Oh, for the good old days when every president before Obama traveled coach and stayed at Motel 6.

What's insane is all this expensive globetrotting when there are so many communication options availiable and even more so given this countries economic state of affairs.
Oh heck, just throw it on the credit card.
