The article also states that the room was basically booked for a few weeks, not just the one day. A president isn't your average guest, there is a lot of security details that are done prior to their visit.

What I dont understand is why dont they just stay at the embassies? They are already secure, they've spent tens of millions and in some instances $100M+ to build..
What's insane is all this expensive globetrotting when there are so many communication options availiable and even more so given this countries economic state of affairs.

Whats in sane is the very same folks who ran around whining that Bush went to his compound in Texas because of the price of fuel, have now flip flooped into everything Obama spends is cheap..
If they would ONCE complain about anything he did, I'd have far more respect for them, and while threads like this are really silly, because we dont really have the breakdown of the cost, it does show the left wing hypocracy.
The problem is many in the US are hurting financially.

People know more now with the 24 hour news and the internet.
Not long ago these cost would not have been news.
The news was basically 1/2 hour in the evening......a few talk shows on Sundays, news papers and magazines.
Wow, I didn't realize the Internet and 24 hour news networks have only been around since President Obama was elected. But it must be true, because I don't remember seeing or hearing about these kinds of things before then. It has nothing to do with the loony right wingers hunting for things for their daily outraged whine fest, right?

Because Obama is doing anything different than any other president? It is expected to have a president that visits heads of other countries from time to time, we are a civilized country in a global economy.

oh please, the left wing whined non stop when Bush went home because of the cost of flying AF1. They said it was a sign that he had no compassion for americans who were suffering. It was non stop left wing looney batcrazy **** daily.
In fact it was a 2006 Congressional study over Bushs use of the plane that the cost to fly it became public information.
