Also, if I buy property, why should I pay the rest of the things associated with property tax on a yearly basis and not just pay it in full when purchasing, or have it included with a mortgage? Why am I constantly obligated to pay property tax every year? What would I do if I wanted to retire?
The fact that you brought up socialism/communism makes me lose interest in you very quickly. Why is it that whenever the government does something you (general term, not you specifically) claim is socialism. Unless it's military. Big governments fine if it's military.

You live in a community. If you want to live out in the country away from society, then I'd agree, you should be paying less taxes. But come on! Education is important. If you don't like how the school board runs things, get involved. You can't complain if you don't do anything about it.

We don't want either property tax or income tax. Both need to be replaced by sales tax at all levels, thus we would all have the control over how much we pay in taxes based on what we can afford to purchase.

Be careful what you wish for.
What do you think would happen if property taxes went away?
With no yearly tax expenses, there would be no disincentive for the ultra wealthy to buy and hold as much property as they can get their hands on.

No one in their right mind is going to tie up their money in any investment that will not return a profit. That means most such property would be developed which would benefit many others.

Get real. It is far more important that no one's home is held at the mercy of a government entity that can take away same in the name of property taxes. This hits retired people who have worked hard and paid for their home, were able to manage the taxes on their homes while working but have to sell or lose same when retirement income won't pay the bill. California's Proposition 13 was a blessing but even so, the miserable tax assessors manage to increase the taxes every year "up to" 2% maximum. This was, unfortunately, included in the bill which was "supposed" to address inflation but naturally the greedy government adds 2% every year even when there is no inflation.

That means you, me and everyone else don't ever get to own anything in America...we all just sharecrop Uncle Sam's plantation.
If there were no property taxes, the wealthy overtime would own a larger chunk of the land in this country and you would be renting from them instead. Considering we are ruled by an oligarch, I guess there is not much difference.

That is because we have giving to much power to the federal government.

I would not want to be at mercy of those that put profits first above everything else because that is what would happen. There would be the serfs and then the landowners of old time.

Can you please remove the WE in your statement? I gave them no such power. The circle jerk of banker and corporate politicians in DC and their chums on the outside feed each other at everyone elses expense.

Good luck breaking up the oligarch at the top that own the rule book.

That was a collective "we".

I am for more local power.

As am I. I believe in giving back not just political but economic power to states, cities and communities therein.
You could say goodbye to the Walmarts and other Corporations that benefitted from Washington based Trade Agreements. Having too much power concentrated in too few hands, private or public never ends well for anyone.

The Big Government lobbyists would have to bribe many politicians in 50 states instead of a few in DC to get their trade pacts in
