This is something I've always wanted to try.
Since most of the climate change arguments here are laymen trying to understand a complex topic/regurgitating things they've seen elsewhere on the net, why don't we instead compile lists of accredited and renowned scientists that support our reasoning?
Usually, their credentials can be found online.
Surely we can all agree that whichever side manages to name more accredited, respected scientists as backing up their beliefs is more likely to be accurate?
Post their name, job title, credentials, education, experience in the field, and the source of your information and a link to their bio... and we'll see which side wins.
I'm with the AGW group, and I'll start:
Name: Lonnie Thompson
Job Title: Professor in the School of Earth Sciences and a Research Scientist in the Byrd Polar Research Center at The Ohio State University.
Credentials: University professor since 1976. He has published over 185 peer-reviewed publications including several in the journal Science, led over 54 field programs, and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Ocean and Atmospheric Association, and NASA. Lonnie has been recognized with many honors and awards including the National Medal of Science, the Tyler Prize (the World Prize for Environmental Achievement), and the Dan David Prize. In addition, he is an American Geophysical Union Fellow, an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
