Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki got his cabinet position because he criticized President George W. Bush during the Iraq war, conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh says.

Then-Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts loved to cite Shinseki, who was at the time the Army Chief of Staff, Limbaugh said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."

Shinseki fell out of favor with Bush for daring to criticize his boy Rumsfeld's handling of the Iraqi occupation. And even Republicans admitted that he was right.

So, meh...

In all fairness, that was back when "publicly disagreeing with the President at a time of War" was a bad thing, close on treason, in the right-wing echo chamber. (Disagreeing and being right was even worse.)
