Did Barack Obama really make this comment??

“… and for the International Order that we have worked for generations to
build. Ordinary men and women are too small-minded to govern their own
affairs. The Order and progress can only come when individuals surrender
their rights to an all-powerful sovereign."

Yes he did. The President actually uttered these words in a 38-minute
plus speech, on June 3, 2014 in Brussels, Belgium!
Listen in disbelief to the words of our president....if this does not
scare you as free minded citizens, I don't think nothing will.

That is the Progressive goal. Tyranny and Totalitarianism and the Lefties here on this forum support it 100%.

Reading the full transcript of the speech would probably be helpful. Rather than an edited youtube video. Edited to dishonestly mischaracterize the meaning of the speech.

Why would they do that, when they can just scream, "You didn't build that!" or "What difference does it make?" instead?

Context ruins every great rightwing talking point, so they simply avoid it. That way they can stay perpetually ignorant. And it works. They are.

I'm guessing he didn't capitalize it that way when he said it.

"And it was here in Europe, through centuries of struggle, through war and enlightenment, repression and revolution, that a particular set of ideals began to emerge, the belief that through conscience and free will, each of us has the right to live as we choose, the belief that power is derived from the consent of the governed and that laws and institutions should be established to protect that understanding.

And those ideas eventually inspired a band of colonialists across an ocean, and they wrote them into the founding documents that still guide America today, including the simple truth that all men, and women, are created equal.

But those ideals have also been tested, here in Europe and around the world. Those ideals have often been threatened by an older, more traditional view of power. This alternative vision argues that ordinary men and women are too small-minded to govern their own affairs, that order and progress can only come when individuals surrender their rights to an all-powerful sovereign. Often this alternative vision roots itself in the notion that by virtue of race or faith or ethnicity, some are inherently superior to others and that individual identity must be defined by us versus them, or that national greatness must flow not by what people stand for, but what they are against."

Basically, Obama's speech talks about how what you're quoting is bad and it's an alternative to the freedoms we have.

Yeah the quote is taken totally out of context to distort, but reading the transcript neither will you see where Obama champions smaller government and increasing personal freedoms. His message has consistently been to increase the role of government in peoples lives.

I read that entire thing in context, and what I take from it is this. He's saying the founders believed that people should have a relationship with God, and freedoms are God-given, not government-given, and people can temper their own behavior through a personal relationship with a sovereign God.

In other words, he believes that way of thinking is backwards as he refers to it in a derogatory way. He believes in big government being sovereign, rather than a personal God.
