Yes, we did, by going in with no idea of what to do once shock and awe was over. But there is no fixing it now, and I'm not willing to waste another single American life trying. Anything we do is just delaying the inevitable anyway. Time to let them have their civil war and determine their own destiny.
The prime minister of Iraq’s Kurdish region says he warned Baghdad and the United States months ago about the threat that a Sunni militant group posed to Iraq, but “nothing happened.”

So?
You are operating on the flawed assumption that the US wants peace and stability.
Did it ever occur to you that the US has no desire for peace and stability, since that would be contrary to US Geo-Political Strategy?
Well, now you have something new to think about.

How would you know? You weren't there.
This might come as a total shock to you, but in order to engage threat forces, you must first know the location of threat forces.
The US had two satellites (that I was aware) parked in Geo-synchronous orbit over Iraq.
Using those two spy satellites, plus high altitude aerial recon, plus other methods of intelligence gathering, the US knew the exact precise pin-point location of every single Iraqi military unit.
How many spy satellites did Iraq have parked over Kuwait and Saudi Arabia relaying real-time images of the locations of Coalition Forces?
None.
The Iraqis found out the location of a Coalition Force unit when they were being fired upon by that unit.
If the US was in Ukraine, how would the US know where threat force were located?
The US would use spy satellites.....right up the point when Russian ASATs blew them out of the sky.
Now what?
Now your big technological advantage has been eliminated and you're in the same boat everyone else is, that's what.

Well, if smoking weed on the beach makes you averse to wasting American blood and taxpayer $$$ in lame attempts to fight the wars of others I say Don't Bogart that joint!
