They take over that major refinery, tell the workers that they will get paid so long as the product flows, and the mechanics of the free market still apply. They honor existing contracts, sell excesses on the open market, rake in the profits, and use those profits to finance their ongoing terrorist operations.
Stop with those comic book mentalities. ISIS or ISIL or whatever aint stupid. Unlike most of the pundits I have heard on this topic.
You're giving them way too much credit.
IF they were that intelligent they wouldn't be killing each other ( in the most sick and vilest ways) in the name of allah and some loony named moe.
You had better hope they don't, because they will use it as an excuse to drive up the price of oil and in turn the price of gasoline, which is already approaching $4.00 per gal.
Meh....they're already using the unrest to raise prices.

People live beautiful in Europe with more than twice that price.
Naturally they walk and ride more bikes, use smaller cars, ride bullet trains, etc. Frugality is a very good thing.
Republicans have nothing to do with it. Oil is still the cheapest fuel to use for transportation because the infrastructure has been in place and paid for, for many years. Alternatives are still too expensive as compared to oil and will take a huge amount of capital to get off the ground. Until oil/gas become too expensive, alternatives will never fly in a big way and when it does, look for mass production of electric cars, hydrogen powered Internal combustion or fuel cells(electric).
or some other source.
It may be argued that you kill those alternatives by keeping the price of oil artificially low. Germany has a much better use of solar energy even though they don't have a sunbelt.
Not a large percentage of oil has to come from Iraq in order to affect prices. It does affect world prices and ultimately we'll pay more --forcing us to get smarter.

The US does not use oil to produce electricity.:sm ack:
A wise person knows the difference between electric energy and fuel for combustion engines.
Too bad you don't know the difference....

So you don't think it makes a difference that I ride a bicycle to the market today, and that I better drive my car, which should take the place of my legs.
I think it's wise to prepare for the worst-case scenario. If oil was that plentiful, we wouldn't be in Iraq.
