It costs megabucks per hour to operate Air Force One. It costs money to transport the Secret Service, the President's staff, and others to attend a fund raising event in Hollywood or some city beyond driving distance to the White House. These fund raising junkets are for the sole benefit of the President's political party or a political candidate and provide no material benefit to the American taxpayer. My question is whether or not you think any political party's elected and sitting president of these United States should be out fundraising on the taxpayer's dime. If you answer in the affirmative that indeed they should be able to fundraise at taxpayer expense please provide your reason(s) as to why you believe it to be permissible. Please do not simply responds with, "Because they always have". I'm speaking that we should put a stop to it once and for all for all political parties.

Bless you to begin with for not being one of those saying Obama does this and not mention the other presidents. That's unusual on here. I read around on different sites and what I've found out is the President's campaign is to reimburse for the cost of the trip. However one loophole presidents have used is to also make and official stop wherever they're going, a speech at a factory, etc. That way they don't have to pay.

agreed Mr. Human .... if it is STRICTLY fund raising, WE should not be paying for it....

and unless there is a LEGITIMATE reason for the President to be in that particular city or location, WE should not paying for it.... a speech does not count as a legitimate reason in this day and age......

BUT... I will add one proviso .... traveling to participate in a debate in an election year would be legitimate in my view..... I think as many constituents as possible should see with their own eyes the candidates as they espouse their views.....

The president of the United States needs to be protected at all costs. The question is, who pays for it.
