Controversial topic to be sure. But, with this recent "proposal", to assess a "carbon tax" against all member nations, with the United States proposed to pay the lion share, has the time come for the United States to say - NO!

Let's talk about it????

It's time to send the UN packing and build a public park on the land it now occupies, it would be a better and more productive use of the acreage.

Default UN go away

the UN is as worthless as you know what on a bull they have never done any good anywhere without the US backing. it needs to go away. at least move to some other more "progressive" country. say, china or russia this has been a large drain on the american public. it should never have any power over the US. no international authority, court, or any rules. no one world court. but I maybe alittle to independant.

'The UN' is not one agency. It's a collection of agencies. You'd have to be a lot more specific, since some UN agencies clearly do a lot of good work, and it would be foolish to stop supporting those.

The US has a lion's share of the carbon tax because guess where all the carbon emissions are coming from? The US is lagging behind every other developed country in the world in terms of sustainable development. I don't think it's a worthwhile reason to pull out of the UN.

I wish people in this country knew the meaning of sacrifice. Victory gardens in the like. In order for my generation and especially my kids to have as great of prospects as our parents and grandparents, EVERYONE is going to need to make sacrifices. People who aren't worried about our energy consumption are generally the ones who won't be around to deal with the problem.

Staying in the UN is certainly not in our best interests. This carbon tax is nothing more than a first stage global tax. If enacted, the next step will be an income tax assessed by the UN.

I think it's time for the United Nations to withdraw from the United States.

Move it to Africa. They need the UN's services more than we do, starting with Darfur.

It seems to me that the US funds a disproportionate share of the operations of the UN, yet this unappreciative collection of bureaucrats does nothing but criticize the US. They should quit biting the hand that feeds them. We should make them aware of how much we contribute to them. When they see their big salaries threatened, they'll sing a different tune. I would eliminate all funding to the UN, kick them out of our country and let the third world dictatorships support them. With the UN, America is always in a lose-lose position; the UN only cares about how much money they can get out of us and imposing sacrifices on our citizens.

I would encourage everyone to actually do their homework on the United Nations before making more uninformed comments about how "useless" it is etc etc.
