Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the PARENT to decide what toy to buy for their little angel.
If the brat has a habit of sticking everything in his/her mouth, be moderately intelligent and don't buy anything with small parts.
If the kid loves to make loud noises, don't buy anything that makes noise.
If the little rug-rat likes to chew on everything and anything, be very careful about what paint is on the toys you buy. Better yet, buy plastic toys that are not painted.
What YOUR little curtain climbers do with their toys is YOUR responsibility!
Be a PARENT!

Because we're a nation of money worshipers who place profits above our children, our fellow men and women, the environment, our forests and our souls. If we weren't there would be no free trade with China.

Stop buying Chinese crap. It's not like you have to buy your kids all those toys, buy them a few good ones and make them use their imagination....you know, play!

These days many "parents" are simply breeders. They expect others to do the parenting.

Yep. Proper parents carry a chemical laboratory with them to test for lead, nickel, asbestos, cyanide, phtalates etc. Having a law in place that puts a responsibility on toy marketers to sell reasonably safe sh.t just means we're failing to take responsibility.

Also, we should check our own food for e.coli.

If laws were what was needed, there would be no toy or food poisoning. Since there are already laws, I guess they don't work. So, folks should take some responsibility.

Because the corrupt people that really run the country prefer their profits over the health of the many. Besides their children are NEVER exposed to the cheap Chinese junk that they so ferociously advertise and sell to the gullible. Their little gems are not even exposed to the tragedy that our underfunded health and educational have become due to the rulers unwillingness to pay for a healthy and educated population. It seen that addiction and ignorance for the many is the goal of the few.

Can you test for phtalates while walking down the aisles of Toys'R'Us? Of course not. the fact that laws aren't 100% effective is no reason to stop making law at all.

We have tried doing without consumer protection laws, and it sucked. How many cases of trichinosis have you heard of lately?
