So enlighten us what the rebel flag stands for, you know, besides standing for a breakaway, traitorous country that wanted to secede because they wanted to keep slavery legal.
Well actually, it was to be able to sell their cotton and other agricultural products to England and other nations at a higher price. It was a state's rights issue. Many northern politicians were heavily invested in the clothing manufacturing centers such as were in New York City and other areas and wanted the cotton to supply their own factories. Perhaps a little study in history would be beneficial.
I see the idiot leftists are out in full today. But never let ignorance stop you people from making fools of yourselves on a daily basis. The rest of us find it entertaining.
I did. So are you saying that CA does own retail shops? The article doesn't say whether the gift shop is state owned or not.
"Hall introduced the bill after his mother saw replica Confederate money being sold at the state Capitol gift shop, which no longer stocks the item."
Having never been to the state capital gift ship I'm not sure. But even if the gift ship is contracted out to a 3rd party the items being sold there are sanctioned by the state and distributed from an official capacity...
This will be interesting to watch if anyone tries to buck it. The main story only interests me a little but what the courts will allow interests me a good bit.
My gut says it's a no brainer they can stop state gift shops from selling it. Fairs is a little trickier of a question but still. I'm all for freedom of speech but where it comes to the state restricting itself that is different argument.
My off the cuff thought is the more the state restricts itself the better off we are.
The Mexican flag doesn't represent racism but that's besides the point.
^^
Neither does the Confederate Flag. If you argue it represents separatism then I would agree (who knows, maybe in 100 years, the Mexican flag will represent separatism in CA too ). How about the flags of those states that allowed slavery but were in the Union during the Civil War? Do they represent racism? Are they banned from being sold on government owned grounds in CA?

Well, answer this
Can you refute that the desire to keep slavery was a major part in why many Confederate states wanted to secede? It is written in the Articles of Secession.
