I voted for Bush in 2000 because (1) he sounded like a fiscal conservative, (2) he seemed to at least pay lip service to limited government, (3) he said he didn't believe in nation-building (ha!), and (4) he wasn't from the Clinton administraton. That bunch made me sick, and I wanted their filth hosed out of the White House. Gore seemed like a decent enough guy, but he had the bad fortune of being associated with Slick Willy, and given the choice between the two, I agreed more with Dubya's stated policies than with Gore's anyway.

9/11 changed everything for me. The Patriot Act, the invasion of Iraq, out-of-control federal spending, and it went rapidly downhill from there. Now I'm apparently anti-American for supporting the Constitution. My vote went to the Libertarians in 2004, and it'll go to Ron Paul in the primaries this time.

I look back through history at all the Presidents who were considered so bad while they were President and still hold hope that B43 will rank alongside Teddy, Dwight, Abe, and even Herb.

It amazes me that so many of the writers of this blog support the blonde from Illinois, err Arkansas, or was it New York. You know that person that says that she was a co-president with her hubby who said there were WMD's in Iraq and voted based on her obvious inside information to go after those WMD's. That same former president who also had an attack occur on the WTC on his watch and a huge surge of membership in a terroristic organization that has spread like cancer all through the world.

I also note that while B43 has held office, the value of real estate has gone up nearly 30% even with some huge recent back motions.

I am not very wise, but I am certainly not blind to facts and I won't throw away the most important assets for the sake of what feels good.

The Patriot Act has prevented several terrorist attacks.

LOL! While I've admittedly been critical of Bush for his shortcomings (as a conservative), you can rest assured I would never under any circumstance vote for the Hilldebeast!

Last thing this country needs is socialized medicine, capitulation to terrorists, and an energy policy written by radical treehuggers from the Church of Global Warming

Please explain with some precision, evidence and direct relations of terrorist attacks being prevented as a result of the Patriot Act?

Bonus question. Can anyone state how many convictions for terrorist acts have been accumulated thus far in the United States?

Very true, my friend.

We already have some awesome Senators in place, and that's a base we can & should build on. I would loooove to see a few more guys in there like Coburn, DeMint, Thune and Inhofe.

What I asked previously was, what evidence. These are just assertions. Show me where it states that through a specific wiretap, or through investigating banking or investments, or how direct surveillance lead to the prevention of an attack. If this were to occur it would only seem natural that such evidence would be used in a court of law to convict various perpetrators. So thus, how many have been convicted of terrorist acts under the Patriot Act or in the war on terrorism in general?
