I never understood the fear of others speech. Especially when it is insane, delusional, or just ridiculous. That should just make it less threatening. Dumb ideas are easily dismissed by rational people with little thought. I always thought those who would censor what they don't like are the same people who do not have a valid argument against what they don't like.

I agree completely.
It is the "I support the free exchange of ideas as long as they are my ideas" attitude. Very prevalent on college campuses.
Every day we see people here advocating the extermination of Muslim's.
The deciding factor in most cases involving inciting violence tends to involve specifics.
For example,
Bob has few beers down at the bar and starts ranting about wiping out all the muslims. (not against the law)
or Bob after a few beers starts encouraging the bar patrons to go down the block and burn the pakistani muslim owned corner store down and stringing up the owner from the light pole. (against the law)
Interacting with Canadians most of them are happy that their laws don't cater to such hateful people with such nasty things to say, not saying they are right or wrong but its their country.. let them do as they please.

Since his target audience were forum participants at stormfront, I would curious to hear if you would consider a pack of rabid white supremecists as rational individuals that would just laugh off his dumb ideas of wiping out inferior races since those are just ridiculous assertions to a rational person.

I don't feel superior to my fellow human beings. People have a right, an innate right, to believe whatever they wish. I am still not afraid of what others think or say. When they DO something, then their actions can be judged.
Should anyone fear "stormfront" any more than a closed door congressional meeting? Hardly.
The rest of the world has laws for responsible speech including making libel, slander, lies, and hate speech wrong.
He violated the order to stop, which is why he got jail time. He knew full well what and why.
Defending a rampant Stormfronter making degrading comments and calling for violence against minorities is outside of the bounds.
What if it was Black protesters the streets of Ferguson, Missouri chanting "Who do we want? Darren Wilson! How do we want him? Dead!". Would you take issue with those militarized police arresting those protesters for hate speech?
