Checks and balances is the way our government is supposed to work. I have no love for the republican party as many of them are by no means conservative. Having said that, one party rule is not a good thing, unless of course you want a dictatorship.

Sorry lefties, the United States isn't Burger King! You can't always have it your way, right away!

I can see where 3 corrupted parties are better than 2.

It is possible, but not with your all's freaking attitudes.

I mean you all need to look at yourselves.

Silly person: 3rd Parties don't have a chance.
Mircea: How many hours have you spent volunteering for 3rd Party Candidates?
Silly person: Uh, none. Why should I do anything....aren't the lobbyists and the special interest groups supposed to do that for us?

How incompetent are 3rd Parties?

The Libertarian Party can't even run a school district.

What have the Libertarians done with all those campaign contributions over the last 25 years?

Other than liberate people of their disposable income, they got nothing to show for it.

In 25 years they couldn't even put together a campaign to gain control of a school district or township.

How sad is that?

But that proves you're brainwashed.

Pursuant to the US Constitution, the seat of power in federal government is the Speaker of the House, not the President.

The President's duties are to smile a becoming smile and shake hands with foreign dignitaries who wear funny looking hats and eat cheese that smells like ass.

See, you elect representatives from numerous political parties or no parties at all.

Those representatives convene and elect a Speaker.

What if no party has a majority?

Gosh, I don't know....maybe we should all fast, put on sack-cloth and gouge out our eyes,....or we could just network and form coalitions.

It is the Speaker who does everything.

The Speaker sets the agenda; the Speaker consults with House majority and minority leaders, and also Senate majority and minority leaders and prepares the budget and the schedule of bills to be heard.

The only thing the President does is submit a request for more money to buy Glade® Air-Fresheners to kill the foul odor of the cheese.

The Speaker --- representing The People -- is the one who nominates the cabinet members. The Senate -- representing the States.....until you mucked that up with your silly amendment --- accepts or rejects the nominations.

The cabinet is supposed to function as a check against the President and federal power, not function as presidential sycophants.

People who are not brainwashed understand that you have a 3-way power-sharing arrangement between the People, the States and the federal government.

You know, having the President coerce Congress into signing a law that no one understands and then using Executive Orders to halt the implementation of key provisions of the law that he coerced Congress into signing isn't making a lot of sense.

Those are progressives.

Only a progressive would claim a non-living entity has "rights" and then fight for them.

Just like Obama and the Democrats.

It's a good thing Obama & Billary Inc. illegally overthrew the Honduran government in July 2009.

An invasion by Honduras would have disastrous results, with Americans being forced to eat guacamole and tacos every day, and listen to salsa music.

King Obama saved America. Praised be the King.

Seeing how that was the 14th time since 1898 a US president has illegally overthrown a Honduran government, maybe the Nobel Committee could award King Obama the Nobel Prize for Original Thinking.

Politically....

Mircea

It's impossible with our current first past the post system. Third parties would only work in a proportional representation system.

Most Americans are not stuck in the middle, We just want to believe we are.

Pew, Gallup, and many other organizations have polled ideology for about a decade now, as well as asking specific questions of people. We are center Left, the problem is many people are 1 issue voters.

What we NEED, is a proportional representation system. Then we would have third and fourth and fifth parties. For real.

I think American politics are a crystal clear example of why single member districts DONT work that well.

The Libertarian Party wants to give us back all of our Constitutional rights, is for the 100% equally, and they will do what they can to eliminate corruption & other waste. They will not change their issues positions no matter how big the contribution. With their new Our American Initiative PAC they can take unlimited $$ from freedom lovers everywhere. The Libertarian Party is the 3rd largest & fastest growing party in the US. When Gary Johnson was their presidential candidate in 2012, just from his website he got 100 votes for each $1 donated, while Democrats & Republicans paid about $1,000 for 100 votes.

While Gary Johnson is a millionaire, he does not worship money. When he wanted a house he could say he wanted an existing or new mansion, but instead he built his own modest house. He had a construction
company that at 1st was only him. When he sold the company many years later, for about $10 million, it had over 1,000 employees. When he was very popular 2 term guv of NM in 1999, he became the highest level govt person to say legalize "marijuana". Now 96% in polls on the internet favor legalization, but big parties say no. Please everyone vote this Nov Liberterian Party & LIVE FREE. Thanks!

P.S. This year we are voting for some Congress people, state legislators, governors & more lp dot org. People that can make some changes for good for so many. votesmart.org for much info on candidates.

There ARE other parties, and not just libertarians who want to dismantle the last remnants of civilization and stop pretending the US isn't tumbling towards fascism.

The problem is that nobody wants to support them.
