LOL I see the commentators are pulling the old "Democrats were slave owners" bull****. Its a historical fact that many of the old south Democratic party are the neoconservatives of today.
And since the old republicans have become the democrats of today, most black children don't have a father in their life. The family unit has broken in the last 50 years of liberal social policies controlling them like sheep.

Is that sort of like manmade global warming is "settled science"? Which is almost completely unprovable.

Stop trying to deride the Republicans or Democrats on my account. I don't have a horse in this race as I think both parties have ****ed over our country big time.
The text book was not condoning slavery it was just stating a historical fact. Unfortunately liberals hate truth---"show me a liberal and i'll eventually scratch you out a fascist"
This is such a silly thing for anyone to be upset about, especially because (from my understanding of history), what it says is true. Many slaves were treated as though they were family.
The same town that outlawed plastic bags and styrofoam cups.
As they should have but that's not the point.
IMHO, history tries to cover the general idea of slavery, Lincoln, civil war, etc. Whether that is good or bad, I'm not really sure. I honestly feel like that period of history is covered ad nausea in schools and i would rather the curriculum spend more time on the 20th century many people are not educated enough about.
When i was in HS 12 yrs ago we literally made it no farther than 1925 in any of my yearly history classes.
Well of course they took care of their property. A happy slave is a productive slave.
What an idotic topic.
Every "slavery wasn't that bad / was really black people's fault anyway" topic is.
