Both extravagant wastes of money by public school systems. Doesn't matter if one is a stadium or not.
Actually it matters a lot, a high school isn't always a cheap building to construct and stock, but a high school is a building for education. A stadium is just a stadium, even you can admit that one.
I don't follow the religion of football in Texas as many do here and think it is an exorbitant amount but I do see that it will be shared by 7 districts.
We didn't want this stadium, it was jammed down our throats. Frailey was bound and determined to have it and when he couldn't force the issue with a stand alone bond, he bundled it together with the overall school package that Katy really did need. I'll bet he expects that it will be named after him. If it is, I hope it's posthumously.

Who is we, Pocahontas? Spoken like a sore loser. Last time I looked, a vote was held. More people voted for than against. That's how things work most of the time. I will agree the stadium should not be named after him.. Get over it and try to enjoy it. Maybe you will have a son or daughter play there.

There must be some kickbacks somewhere in the deal.

Not yet, dufus. Contractor has not been selected. Don't be so cynical, and don't get roped in listening to these other naysayers about the facts.
This right here is a part of the problem in our country. Demonizing people simply on the idea that one believes they may be a little different than you.

Negative, both serve a purpose and both can be built to be effective for those purposes for many times less than their original price tags. Your understanding of that basic concept is skewed by your belief that one is more important than the other which is a separate argument relative to the capital expenditures.

Actually it is. Over the past 15 years the population of the county where I live has doubled which required 3 new high schools as well as about 10 other school buildings for lower grades. If you view each one on Google Earth, they have the exact same layout. Yes, some might be wider/longer/taller (2 stories) but the basic design doesn't change. Why is that important? No expensive architect fees.
Doing a little research has found that the same company builds all of them. That's economies of scale. They know the design and can now crank them out in less time for less money.
This design is like an X with the classrooms on the legs and the administrative rooms in the middle. One high school went 2 stories with longer legs but still the same.
Our sports teams don't have stadiums but they have nice artificial turf fields and nice seating. None of it paid for by taxes. All money was raised by the booster clubs of each team.
As for the stadium in Katy Texas, it is outrageous. But for those that don't understand school finance in Texas (not that different from other areas) this stadium was approved by voters in a bond election. So the voters/taxpayers in that school district volunteered to pay the taxes to build it.
I would have voted against the bond package. But keep in mind that a stadium like that is a district facility; it doesn't belong to a single school, and it will be in use for 30 years or more.
These types expenditures come easy when funded with everyones tax dollars that were taken by force.
Now if the stadium were funded through voluntary donations or private investment money, who would be able to criticize?
