Is this ok since they do a lot of charity work and make appearances?

I never bought into this. But they're beloved celebrities and icons.

That's Britain's problem...why should we care what the Brits do when it comes to the Royal family?

American leeches are the problem here, not British ones.

Hard to believe that there are people who still believe a family has a divine right to rule. To top it off, it's been a while since Great Britain had a monarch that was convincing enough for people to actually fall for this farce.

I'm almost certain it's been several centuries since a King or Queen of England has tried to convince anyone that God actually decided they are meant to rule. They're ceremonial, nothing else. I'm no expert on English history, but I'd imagine that had Queen Victoria not been such an influential person in English culture in the late 19th century, the Royal Family would not be viewed the same as they are today. Important? Sure. But pop culture icons? Maybe not. But what do I know. I've never been to England.

On topic, who cares? It's England's taxes; if they're ok with it, then by all means, continue.

You think they still rule? They're just figureheads. If the Brits are fine with it, what's it to you? It's not your dime. It costs every person in the UK 83 cents a year. Big deal.

I like the Queen. Nice hats.

She said she likes you too but wishes you could bow a little lower when she walks by.

Do they really live off of taxpayer money? After all, isn't the British monarch one of the richest groups of people in the UK? Do they even need taxpayer money?

Not that it matters since, like others have said, it's not for me to take issue with since I'm not a British subject.

[all hail the...etc...etc...]
