What makes Harry, William and baby George so Royal? What makes their bloood any better or superior to any other human being? Really, what makes Baby George any more "royal" or superior to your son or grandson? Their Princess Diana was promiscuous and Prince Charles was a philandering womanizer. And Harry, William Baby George and the Queen are worthless, unemployed human beings that were handed wealth and "royalty" status for achieving or earning anything in life. But, the biggest fools are the ones that line the streets to take a glance at the losers.

I don't think they are supported by taxpayers anymore and as such have opened up various palaces etc. to tourism and they generally live off their own holdings (mainly extensive real estate).

I would probably argue that they are at this point more of a cash cow of tourism than anything and as such likely benefit Britain.

It's generally a good thing as long as they represent the country well and aren't giant embarassments like some kids with last names like Hilton and so forth.

I will say this much, at least all the guys do military and other service for their country unlike the kids of the elite in this country.

Yep. At least Kate didn't become famous for making porn videos and having an ass big enough to have its own gravitational pull.

I never bought into this. But they're beloved celebrities and icons.
Not sure how the English feel about it these days. I know in years past during certain controversies there was talk of wanting the royals out by some. Still they do generate a lot of publicity. It is up to them to decide if they are worth it. How strange that they are so wealthy and yet the average British subject actually is the one who pays for them. Can we hear from some British people on the subject?

Less than 7 cents a month. Such a hardship.
How strange that so many politicians are wealthy, yet the average American is the one who pays for them.

Opinion polls in the UK consistently show support for the monarchy at 70% - 80%. Obviously that means that there are a bunch of people who feel the other way and a good bit of it is probably due to admiration for how the Queen goes about the job. I think that most Brits prefer the current setup to getting an Obama, a Putin, an Erdogan or a Sarkozy.

They are better simply because they ARE better.

On topic, who cares? It's England's taxes; if they're ok with it, then by all means, continue.
It's not "England's taxes" it's the UK. There is no such nation called "England", it's the UK

It was only about 50 years ago the British government found out that some of the royals were secret members if the SAS during the war, that was the only way they could fight in the war was to be an SAS member, from what I remember reading it was only until one of the Royals was killed near the end of the war it came out in the open . Many castles were opened up for the soldiers , made into hospitals , many were bombed , killing the royal residents & staff, the old queen mother refused to leave England to a safe house.......

No a bad group of people of the whole
