Admittedly, I had to do that. I have never seen that movie, and I think I've heard the name of it but am not sure if that was referencing the movie or something else, at some point in my life.

I first found a YT video of the scene and found it disturbing. Using the context from this thread, I gathered what it was referencing, but I still had to look up more information to find out. Now I get it....and yes, it was quite a fitting post, the person who stated it.

Now I have to go find something totally dumb and innocent, like a Golden Girls clip to get that out of my head. Did not like it at all, wish I hadn't looked it up.

Seriously stop working, and go out and enjoy life and start spending your money to create more businesses, and lower the unemployment rate and give a chance now to the younger generation. This applies especially to professional jobs. Retired people could volunteer, substitute, or do bunch of other things if they feel "bored"!
Yes, there is a lot of sense to this. Consider also, it used to be if you started collecting social security at age 65 and chose to remain working, they would take a dollar of your social security away, for every two dollars you earned. The law was changed to allow older people who chose to remain working to collect full social security benefits without penalty with the only risk being moved up to a higher tax bracket.

Younger people do have it tough. Consider, people in their sixties and seventies got to go to college dirt cheap, didn't have to worry about as much competition getting into good schools, they got to buy their real estate dirt cheap, their were plenty of manufacturing jobs at the time, cars were much cheaper; sub compact cars were more exclusive for poorer people, where now they are for middle class. They didn't have millions of immigrant coming here legal or otherwise to compete for college enrollment, and jobs as well. Health insurance was much cheaper, if not free with many employers.

Last time I checked, this was America, and what your suggesting is laughable, to say the least.

The OP just likes to by posting (how can I say this without breaking the TOS?) - drivel.

Just check posting history. Maybe mods may take a look at the wasted bandwidth and useless posts by this strunz.

You can still go to college dirt cheap, it's called "scholarships". You don't have to worry about competition if you are worth anything. You can still find "dirt cheap" real estate all over this country. There's still plenty of jobs if you have any skills that are worth a damn. Cars are still cheap, shop around. The immigration problem is something we can all do something about - stop voting in people who allow more to keep coming in, and granting those who are here to stay here. You have that choice. When I was working for someone else, I still got free insurance...including health, dental, and vision.

Spare me the sob stories. The fact is, you don't want to make the effort to find these things, you want everything handed to you on a silver platter because your mommy told you that you were "special" when you were younger.

Welcome to the real world. Deal with it.

Pilots and air traffic controllers have mandatory retirement age; an earlier age indeed.

Ok junior, I'm tired of working and I could retire. Now to get there you'll need to kick some money from my old job you took over my way. It's only fair, I let you have that job, it was an item of value and surely you don't think I should let you have it for nothing?

No? You just want me to move over?

Well then you can go to h-e-double toothpicks then, junior. You can't do my job anyways, I know because my former employer tried to replace me and failed. Maybe you should have worked smarter and harder?

How about you train more people at work?

I tried that. Nobody wanted to step up.

And you want to know what happened? There was an opening in my field, so we were keeping our eyes open for likely candidates. I found a kid who would have been perfect-early 20's, computer and mechanically literate, good customer service and public skills, he could have had a good long run at this job. Instead they hired some grumpy old git because he had worked on HP printers.

I tried, I truly did.
