.....why the hell are people celebrating the consumption of more fossil fuels?
Literally everything that has been manufactured was in some way made by/with fossil fuels. Cheaper fossil fuels will boost the economy, provide more jobs, put more money in our pockets...

What revolution; that is a log ways off. Thankfully because we need to replace 13K other essential products made from crude other than fuels. Alternatives also need to stand on their own.
