Your "view and opinion" of the police reminds me of the master who beats his dog and still expects affection in return. It's absolutely incredible, and I agree with toryturner.

The Mayor needs to show that the OFFiICE of the Mayor is in charge of the city...not the police. No different from a military unit....the Commander of the unit is in charge...not the troops.

As the daughter of a cop who defended everyone regardless of their personal opinion I should say yes, but I sure as heck don't know why they do it. Talk about a thankless job. And btw, your taxes don't pay enough to put up with some of the absolute ---- they have to put up with.

Didn't these officers take an Oath to be subordinate and show the proper respect towards senior leadership and their Mayor as Commander-In-Chief?

The cops didn't turn their backs on deblasio, he turned his back on them.

turning their backs on deblasion does not deserve punishment... it was a sign of trust, that Deblasio has their backs, what deblasio sticks in their backs is something else.

He didn't take the opposite position in "just" the Eric Garner case, he came out and bought in to this delusional notion that police are, in general, racist white supremecists, who harass and profile black men so that they can kill them in the streets. He fueled the divisiveness.

Good on the cops who had the balls to stand up and speak truth to power. Hopefully they run De Blasio out of town on a rail.

Insubordination ? What order did they disobey ?Is there something in the police contract or oath of office requiring that a cop face toward the mayor ?

The death of Garner happened because the street cops were obeying orders of the bigwigs to strictly enforce a law De Blasio later called a minor offense.

No, he didn't just take a side against "bad" cops, he took a side again ALL cops when he legitimized the paranoid delusions of a minority that think when any black man encounters any cop, they need to act "special" so they don't get killed.
