You know very well they were not lied to. They were presented the best information available. They all had the responsibility and the power to oversee the CIA and the groups investigating this matter. And the fact is, there was a history of weapons of mass destruction being constructed in Iraq, which is beyond dispute. In fact, it appears that they likely moved the weapons out the country in the face of our increased scrutiny and eventually our impending arrival. And even still, chemical weapons were found by our troops there. Not that you would have been likely to see that reported on by MSNBC or any similar left leaning "news organization".

Make no mistake about it, the only liars here are the ones who continue to try to shift responsibility away from themselves and their actions on this, and those who continue to support those people by doing the same.

Well, I have to say, that is a much more credible explanation that the "they were lied to" nonsense that some others continue to pathetically resort to. Rep to you for a thoughtful answer.

Oh yes we were lied to. You have no idea what was behind this....think Chaney and what he hoped to gain from this. And for the sake of argument, let's say they did have weapons of mass destruction....so what. Let them use it. This was so bogus and we fell for it. And you wonder why we are being attacked now.

In other words, you are saying it was a conspiracy and that the Democrats who were responsible for overseeing this process were either in on the conspiracy or they were too naive and helpless to notice it and try to stop it.

Please.

Natalie is right that Bush and his grisly war gang lied through their teeth--but about everything, not just what WMD programs were current. But you are right that it is no excuse. The lies were not so artful that they would've fooled anyone who wasn't desperate to be fooled.

A government seeking a pretext for a war will always lie to achieve it--if you wish to call that an allegation of "conspiracy", make the most of it.

The only liars here are those people bearing false witness against George Bush by baselessly calling him a liar.

If the shoe fits....

What? I never said it was a conspiracy lol We are never going to agree so let's just drop it. But if we didn't invade Iraq we may not be having all these insurgents. You cannot invade another country like we did without consequences. You reap what you sow, and we need to mind our own business

Once again, we were attacked repeatedly before we ever invaded Iraq. So that was not what started this.

Iraq was first invaded by United States ground forces on February 15, 1991.
