Former USD football players and an ex-girlfriend schemed to collect SSN and then get their tax returns to spend on themselves. They received hundreds of thousands of dollars. But they were only sentenced to 2 years. Shouldn't the penalty for identity theft be a more serious sentence considering the long lasting effects it has on the victims?
I think its been made clear that our justice system is messed up. I'm not about to argue that its something new as it isn't but justice is not carried out with the idea of the punishment fitting the crime but rather the punishment fitting your standing in life.
