Florida legislation is the latest to prohibit shoppers from buying 'nonstaple, unhealthy foods' with federal aid. It's a trend driven by health concerns but also by tight budgets.
Ah better than letting em go throw it at the casino. How many bureaucrats and boards and commissions will have to be formed to create, implement and monitor this new policy and will it end up costing more than letting the lazy lardbutts just hog away at the trough???
Would you rather see legislation to eliminate food stamps altogether?
I'd rather see legislation to end the billions in pork barrel government spending going to big oil and the huge corporations, then the GOP screwing around with big government legislation to proclaim what they seem to think people should and should not eat. This isn't nazi germany, though many on the right i'm sure would like it to be.

The Obama administration just made big changes to what school children are allowed to be served for lunch. They even banned whole milk. Isn't that big government at work?

Your post is absurd.
Let me guess..you think pork barrel spending is OK when it's done by Democrats, right? You think Democrats giving money to huge corporations is OK, right?
Back to the point of this thread -
If you don't like what the government is paying for you to eat, then you shouldn't rely on the government to feed you.
FYI - recently some Democrats were calling for outlawing certain types of flavored cigarettes or cigars (I forget which). No one is suggesting outlawing certain types of food, just not paying for certain types of food.
