Well the Highway Trust Fund was bailed out and that expires in May 2015 and it will be in the red then.
Have to find a new source of revenue for it.

One issue is that the HTF is used for more than highways and that only serves to drain the fund even quicker.

Why does the HFT pay for recreational trails ? Hiking trails, horse trails, bike trails, off road vehicle trails, etc.
This money is for HIGHWAYS, not recreation.

The problem is that Congress ok's more spending than the Trust Fund takes in and lots of pet pork projects are top priority for funding.

Don't give them more money because they will only continue to spend more than the fund takes in or gets bailed out.

Once Obama & Co. admitted that there weren't any shovel ready jobs his credibility with millions of Americans was shot forever, and that was before he went on an unprecedented tax raising binge starting with the tons of them throughout Obamacare, as well as the IRS tax code and his idiotic tax on 529 plans which stupid from the get-go and eventually discarded after getting massacred by the media.

Democrats have a multi-decade history of ignorance regarding the negative aftermsth of tax hikes, and this is the latest proof of that; Obama's a lawyer and not an economist----don't forget that his party was 100% responsible for the housing crash as millions of us knew was inevitable several years before it happened, and made tons of $$$$$$$ thanks to his party's stupidity and ignorance.

Ask them.
You are making assertions about something you know nothing about? Could it be that Fox News had their way with you again this morning?

Instead of raising taxes, we could borrow the money to fix our roads as this proposal points out.

$1.3 billion in borrowing to fund transportation projects over the next two years.

What do you think of that proposal?

The HFT went bankrupt in 2008 and has been bailed out ever since by Congress which consists of both Dems and Repubs and Presidents that signed off on it that represent both Dem and Repub.

I don't know why some of you think your party is any better than the other guy.

You read the headlines and go with the flow. Few bother to even read into it and take a look at the history.

If revenues are declining then spending needs to decline.
Yet members of Congress (on both sides) continue to put their pet projects into each bailout bill.

In the 6 years Obama has been in Office and the 2 years before that when the dems had the House AND Senate, How many budgets have been passed?

How many repub controlled House budgets have become law?

I'll give you a hint, Continuing Resolution.

You might want to look that up.

Am I wrong? Liberals had the House and Senate and you complain nothing was done?

Why don't you cool your hardon for Fox News and answer the question. Congress handed your idiot hero a blank check and turned him loose.

Where did the money go?
