I would think that in this day and age the people of America would read something of the history of Islam's growing Wahhabism practitioners, this form of right wing ultra conservative Islamic faith has been elevated first by the Brits in the middle east and carried on by the Saud government in Saudi Arabia. It has had the blessing of western power for the fact that it's anti communistic stance was aligned with a group who would later come to fight the Russians in Afghanistan.
One young Arab that came to the party was none other that Osama Bi Laden, founding the Mujaheddin that morphed into the Al Qaeda that has been splintered many times into a loose coalition of anti communist, and now anti western group of terrorist militants that subscribe not to Islamic principles but moreover the literal interpretation of the Koran. We have our own Christian Al Qaeda in the form of fanatics like Richard Butler the Aryan Nations leader who tended to give the rest of Christianity a black eye.
Wahhabism promotes the notion of a kind of supra Islamic type of individual not unlike the religious fanatics found in nearly all religions, ALL fanatics are dangerous to a free people whether those people live as Muslims or Christians. Imagine a rise of fanatical Christianity that garnered millions of followers who vowed to keep you and your family safe by making sure you followed their version of biblical virtue. This is the lay of the land that America has chosen to take it's war for resources too. At first these "terrorists were supported by the west because they "terrorized" the enemies of the west and allowed a relationship with those who would later come for that one commodity that was so desired by the emerging industrial economies in the west.
All during the cold war these terrorists were serving the cause on an anti communist west, Russia, the main practitioner of communism was the major factor in allowing these fanatics to grow to the size they are today. The USSR had a formidable army to defend their interests in the oil disbursement schemes that were also vital to their industrial base, these Islamic Salafi, Wahhabi, fanatics held the line in favor of the west, especially in the oil rich Saudi kingdom. This "war" has little to do with terrorism and everything to do with money. Why are these groups proliferating? Follow the money...No militant group can go on for very long without the help of those with money, guns, and more importantly, an intelligence base that allows their military strategies to enjoy a few victories..

That's what happens when you fall in to the trap of believing the "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" BS, all too often it turns out the enemy of your enemy is also your enemy.
this is the start of the 3rd crusades... these orthodox extremist muslins are looking to conquer the world...convert or die
should the USA or any other NATO/UN nation just sit back and allow this to happen???
isis (sunni orthodox extremists) are in over 20 different countries and are continuing to expand

After the conflict diminishes in a couple of generations or so we could return to the area with force and destroy the winners and steal the petroleum that has been safe underground. Maybe we could eventually invade the place with Mormon missionaries.

I would have NO problem with that attitude IF we could be assure they would STAY in the Middle East.

ISIS To Obama: 'We Will Cut Off Your Head In The White House'
What information do you have that they will STOP AFTER the conquer the Middle east?
Has ANY country EVER stopped once they start? The Roman Empire?, The British Empire? The Nazi's? U.S.S.R? etc.
It goes hand in hand with the myriad of things that you don't know but keep professing an intimate knowledge of with only your opinions and lies to be believed and of worth.
Radical Islam is an ideology. It cannot be beat with military force. There is not one ideology where this works. You can decrease there numbers, sometimes for a long time, but it never truly dies. At least not in our life times. Communism, National Socialism, racism. All ideologies that have been met with military force; none of them completely eliminated.
And I won't move. That is a cop out solution. I'd much rather get my freedoms back than leave. That's better for everyone and is an actual solution.
No. it is easier to ***** about things while protected by our laws than to actually do something in accordance with your whining.
