First of all, I thought we weren't in a war with ISIS, second of all she goes on to say we need to get to the root causes, poverty, etc. Right - what are we going to offer to build them midnight basketball courts or something? It doesn't work for the gangbangers on the southside of Chicago, but maybe for ISIS.

She is full of crap. What she proposes is exactly how we got to this point. By trying to "fix" their Government. They where doing 100% better with the Government they had, and ISIS did not exist. We have proven we are lousy judges of who should "not" run Countries, and that "Democracy" does not work everywhere.
That's said, there is now no other alternative to ISIS. Kill all we can and encourage the other ME Countries to kill the rest of them. When their numbers begin to fall to "Small bandit groups" the rest of the little tribes they terrorized and murdered, can hunt down what's left and execute them on the spot, like wild dogs, with no mercy given, and no prisoner, even if they give up.
She suggest jobs and rebuilding? Send her, if she wants to go, with her own money, and lets see how ISIS treats her. Save the jobs for our own people that need them.

Well, the first problem we run into is, how do we fight extremism? ISIS is only one small part of Islamic extremism. If we kill every member of ISIS, it would only be a matter of time before another group pops up to take their place. We have ran across this same problem with white supremacist here in America. The Confederacy was replaced by the KKK, the KKK was replaced by Jim Crow, which was replaced by institutionalized racism, Tea Party extremism, etc... And the list goes on...
She is right, we can't kill our way out of this, because since WWII and our use of nuclear weapons we have proven unwilling to use the necessary force and inhumanity required to do so.
Oh make no mistakes, we absolutely COULD do so, we just aren't willing.
