I'm starting to come around to the Logic of not applying Religion to it, but it really isn't a 'Christian' Presidents place to say who is or isn't Muslim. I'll listen to actual Muslims for that.
I don't think he's saying they aren't Muslim. It's quite obvious they are. But he has a responsibility to the Muslims who are also citizens of this country (and not necessarily of ME origin) to not incite hatred toward them as a whole.
The Muslims that are also American deserve consideration too. If they join ISIS or support the radical, violent barbarians in any way then that's a different matter. But the majority will do no such thing, and it must be really scary to be them right now.
His description of ISIL is clear .. clearly wrong. He might be avoiding the connection of ISIL and Islam for diplomatic reasons, per the newest talking point, but his description of that death cult without reference to a version of Islam is absurd.

I have an Aunt, Uncle, and cousins that are practicing Muslims, along with coworkers, they haven't expressed a whole lot of worry or concern with respect to other Americans. None would move back to the middle east either.

Sounds like a good description to me but ISIS appears to practice Islam more closely to the way that Mohammad did then modern moderate Muslims do. They go straight to verses of the Quran with most everything they do. That sounds like more then pretending.
The most recent example of Obama avoiding the mention of Christians was the beheading of the 21 Coptic Christians. He carefully referred to them as 'Egyptian citizens' even though ISIL specifically called them 'the people of the cross.'
That fits in perfectly with his admirable decision to keep religion out of politics.
Obama either is a muslim, or big time muslim sympathizer. Look what he has done: helped try to turn the largest muslim county, Egypt, into a radicalized country (muslim bro'hood) and took a stable Libya under MQ, and helped make it into ISIS western HQ. He is either the stupidest human alive, or a muslim (radical?) sympathizer, He needs impeached and prosecuted for treason in releasing the Gitmo Taliban terrorists for a deserter.
The largest Muslim country is Indonesia, not Egypt.
Apparently only certain religions are chastised there.
