..would you be worried, afraid, upset, or not care? not too long ago i saw a row of muslims praying in the waiting area at an airport. at first i thought, man those guys are going to have a hard time. then i thought, its a free country, they can practice as they please. i found it inspiring to see them put their beliefs before what people think. that takes a lot courage these days.
so what would your initial reaction have been?
I'd probably think, oh no it's the seventies again. Those darn Hare Krishnas warped me as far as religion in airports go.
I don't like seeing anyone praying in public to be honest, it always feels like a "look at me" type of thing.
Exactly!
I would probably roll my eyes but wouldn't go off on them or anything- now if I started hearing an adhān by a muezzin in my neighborhood or city I would probably try to shoot out the speaker in the minaret- that is way too public for an incompatible belief system in this country for me. I don't care how beautiful it sounds to some people- it sounds like death to me.
I have no problem with someone that lives their faith. But I also think it is attention seeking in some cases. Saying grace aloud in restaurants, and Tebowing come to mind.
I was quite pleased when I hit the Poll Results that the results showed that it wouldn't bother 86.76% of people.
There is hope...
